GENERAL INFORMATION: 

 

The purpose of the WALL ALIGNMENT AND SCAFFOLDING SYSTEM (WASS II) is to facilitate the accurate erection, alignment, concrete placement and curing of Insulating Concrete Form (ICF) walls.  WASS II is secured to ICF concrete form work with self tapping (coarse thread) screws into the  ICF's built-in strapping.  Consult your  ICF  manufacturer for their recommendations..

 

WASS II INCLUDES DIFFERENT ALUMINIUM OR STEEL HARDWARE COMPONENTS WHICH, WHEN ASSEMBLED, FORMS A COMPLETE ALIGNMENT AND SCAFFOLDING SYSTEM FOR ICF's.  SINCE IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT THESE COMPONENTS BE CORRECTLY ASSEMBLED, READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY.  PRIOR TO USING WASS II, ALWAYS CHECK WITH YOUR LOCAL SAFETY REGULATION OFFICE  ON THEIR REQUIREMENTS.  IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS REGARDING ANY ASPECT OF WASS II,  CONTACT YOUR WASS II SUPPLIER BEFORE  PROCEEDING.  IT IS ADVISABLE TO WEAR WORKING GLOVES WHEN HANDLING THE VARIOUS WASS II HARDWARE; SOME OF THE COMPONENTS MAY HAVE A SHARP EDGES.

 

INSTALLATION:

 

1.  BASED ON MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS AND DESIRED WALL CONFIGURATION, INSTALL THE ICF SYSTEM TO A HEIGHT OF APPROXIMATELY 5 - 6 FEET. THEN COMMENCE INSTALLATION OF THE WASS II SYSTEM.  ON WINDY DAYS, IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO INSTALL WASS II SOONER.  IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT WASS II BE INSTALLED ON THE INSIDE OF THE FORM WORK TO PROVIDE FOR GREATER WORKING SPACE .

2.   AFTER THE ICF SYSTEM HAS BEEN INSTALLED TO A HEIGHT OF 5 - 6 FEET, FASTEN UPRIGHTS TO ICF WALL WITH SELF TAPPING COARSE THREAD (PAN HEAD) SCREWS THROUGH TOP OF SLOTS INSIDE CHANNEL “A”.  SCREWS MUST BE PLACED AT EVERY 12" MIN. AND PLACE AT TOP OF SLOTS.   DO NOT  OVER TIGHTEN THE SCREWS TO ALLOW DOWNWARD SETTLEMENT OF ICF WALL DURING CONCRETE PLACEMENT.  FASTEN UPRIGHT BASE PLATE TO FOOTING, SLAB/FLOOR.

IMPORTANT NOTE: INSTALL UPRIGHT AT EVERY 6'-0" (MAXIMUM) CENTRE TO CENTRE OR AS  REQUIRED.

3.    INSTALL ADJUSTMENT BRAKET “B” (top of adjustment bracket “B” should be Installed at desired platform height as it will support walkway bracket).  INSERT AND SECURING (2) PINS THROUGH ADJUSTMENT BRACKET AND UPRIGHTS CHANNEL.  SEE FIGURE 3

IMPORTANT NOTE:  CHECK WITH YOUR LOCAL SAFETY REGULATION OFFICE FOR THE HEIGHT, PLATFORM, WIDTH, GUARD RAIL, MID-RAIL AND  TOE  BOARD   REQUIREMENTS.

4.        INSTALL AND SECURE DIAGONAL BRACE “C” WITH PIN "P" (& SPRING CLIP PROVIDED) THROUGH ADJUSTMENT SCREW BRACKET “B”.  ANCHOR BASE PLATE “D” GROUND (USING MINIMUM OF 4 X 36” STEEL PINS) OR TO SLAB (USING MINIMUM OF 4 - 3/16” CONCRETE SREWS) OR TO SUB FLOOR (USING MINIMUM OF 4 - NO. 8 SCREWS, 2 OF WHICH SCREWED INTO THE FLOOR JOIST SYSTEM). 

NOTE:   ITS IS ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL THAT BASE PLATE “D” BE SOLIDLY ANCHORED TO GROUND, SLAB, SUBFLOOR, ETC. AS THIS WILL MAINTIAN WALL ALIGNMENT AND RETAIN SOME OF THE WORKERS AND CONCRETE WEIGHT.  DO THIS CORRECTLY.
5.  ADJUST WALL PLUMBLINE BY SCREWING WITH A SPEED WRENCH OR VARIABLE CORDLESS DRILL (CLOCKWISE “PULL” OR COUNTER CLOCKWISE “PUSH”) THE SCREW ON BRACKET “B”, ON WHICH THE DIAGONAL BRACE IS ATTACHED TO UNTIL WALL IS PLUMB/LEVEL (MAKE SURE THAT BASE OF WALL IS STRAIGHT AND ON LINE).
6.  INSTALL THE WALKWAY BRACKET “E” BY INSERTING IT OVER THE SCREW AND ONTO ADJUSTMENT BRACKET “B” PLATE.  SECURE BOTTOM BRACE OF WALKWAY BRACKET BY INSERTING PIN "P" THROUGH UPRIGHT CHANNEL AND WALKWAY DIAGONAL BRACE.

7.  INSTALL SCAFFOLDING GRADE PLANKS “G” ONTO WALKWAY BRACKET KEEPING MIN. 24” OVERLAP ON PLANKS FROM UPRIGHT CENTER(S)

8.  INSTALL AND SECURE WITH PIN "P" THE GUARD RAIL POSTS “F” INTO WALKWAY BRACKETS “E”.  ONCE COMPLETED, INSTALL AND SECURE TOP HAND RAIL, MID RAIL AND TOE BOARD (or as required by your local regulations and safety code(s)) WITH NAIL AND OR SCREWS.  ONCE INSTALLATION OF ALL WASS II COMPONENT COMPLETED AS DESCRIBED HEREIN, THE INSTALLATION OF THE ICF SYSTEM CAN BE COMPLETED.
IMPORTANTY NOTE: Scaffolding plank “G” overlap top of upright should not be less than 24” (2’-0”) from center of upright
9.  MAKE FINAL PLUMBLINE ADJUSTMENT PRIOR TO POURING WALLS.
NOTE:  IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO RE-ADJUST WALL ALIGNMENT AS REQUIRED DURING AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE CONCRETE PLACEMENT / BEFORE CONCRETE STARTS TO SET.
